Inspiration Post for March 26th

Hi, Debbie here - and it's my turn to do the Inspiration Post.

I have used this months Scrapbook Layout for my project.

I have used an old photo of our daughter Feather.  In this picture she is 3 years old (she is now 21 years old.)    I have always loved this picture of her.  She looks so serene in this picture and has her hands folder together like she is praying.   I have placed different sized clear flourishes around it...and added two paper flowers that I made using Astrid's February 5th Inspiration Post.

I used three different papers for the squares on the top and bottom - and then added her name in the middle of them with stick on letters.   The background of my layout is a pinkish shaded shiny patterned cardstock.    My project doesn't look exactly like the layout sketch, but that's the fun thing about being creative, and making your project "your's".

I would also like to share a technique that I like to do.

It's called "Shaving Cream Technique".

It's kind of messy to do - but it's fun :-)

And the patterns you create are unique and different each time.

  Here are pictures that shows the products and steps to it:

(I just used the colors Crimson and Green)

Next - put the shaving cream into the plate:
Note: I did not have much shaving cream left in the can, so it came out a little more runny and had bubbles...but it still worked good.

Swirl it around:

Lay your cardstock on it and press it down good:

Then take it off and wipe it off good with a paper towel - allow to dry:

This is what I ended up with:

Here is a card that I made with this.  I cut out one large heart and 5 small hearts.

I hope this has inspired you to be creative and try doing different techniques.

Inspiration Post | Painter's Tape Technique

Hi everyone, it's Louise here with you today and I would love to inspire you with a technique. The "Painter's Tape Technique" is certainly not a new one, but it is new to me and I have been having a lot of fun with it lately. You can use this technique to create interesting backgrounds or patterns for your projects and all you need are some inkpads and a roll of masking tape.

Inspiration Post for March 17 - by Debi Clark

I just love using Washi tape, so thought I would show you a few techniques  that I use & have gone into making my card.  My card is based on the Feeling Sketchy #80 sketch. 1.       I have used older & large chipboard alphas, that I probably wouldn’t have used otherwise. Then I patiently sat & wrapped the washi around the alphas.
2.  It then looks just like this! 2. Another technique is to have some backing paper, & layer on washi tape ....... like this....
Then draw a shape or two, whatever you like - I made triangles...
Fussy cut them out...
Then decorate your card as you choose! I used the washi chippie alphas, the washi flags & then edged my card with more washi. What do you think??

Hello Ladies,

I am very excited to share with you this month's inspiration.....'The Magic of Gesso'.
I find this medium so so very versatile and easy to work with, so if you are keen, go make yourself a cuppa and grab a biscuit and follow this magical journey. :)

I have named this work 'Moments through the looking glass'.  To create this work I used cardstock, but you can use something stronger like cardboard.
I then glued my selected 'bits and bob' in place, I have used a lot of 'odd bits' that I had laying around in my stash that were a bit old and tired looking.

I bet you are saying.................'what was she thinking'....LOL.
I then applied that great product Gesso over the whole Layout

Don't worry too much if some colours are strong the paint will cover it all.  I then sprayed 4 different shades of Glimmer Mist, 'Crushed Shells', 'Patina', 'vintage pink', and Memory mist 'Lavender Tea'.

and there you have it.  I wonder if you thought it was harder than this :)
I framed my photos with Scrapmatts Ornate frames and here is the end result.

Other items added were Prima flowers and Inkagold.
Well I trust that you are now inspired to try this technique and remember .......it is only a piece of cardstock and some 'bits and bobs'.

Chipboard Bubble Paint Technique

Happy Monday. Michelle here doing a technique tutorial.  

I chose to do bubble paint on chipboard.

You will need

1.  Some chipboard cut outs.  I used an old cereal box and cut my pieces with my cutter.  I did double cut just to be sure it cut through nicely.  I used the gears from the file

2. Paintbrush

3.  Acrylic paint

4. Perfect Pearls (optional)

5.  Some glaze (optional)

6. Heat gun

 Start painting your pieces. Once covered completely in paint, used your heat gun to start drying the paint.

 You will notice the paint starts to bubble.  That is the effect we want.  Continue to do about 3 layers of paint and drying.

End result.

Here is the card!

I went on to add some perfect pearls and dimensional glaze to my chipboard.  I just dry brushed the perfect pearls on.  For the title of the card "LIFE".  First I just chalked the chipboard with a brown chalk, I added some dimensional glaze and thought, "What the HEck!!"  I used my heat gun to dry the title and then also added some perfect pearls. I thought that both looked so pretty cool.

The little lace flower.  I took a piece of lace and ran a running stitch through the lace.  I gathered the lace and just secured it with a stitch to form the flower.
