Card Sketch 94

And a fine welcome to you once again......

We are generously sponsored in July by

Aurora Wings

Fantasy artist and digital stamp designer Mitzi Sato-Wiuff started offering digital stamps in Aurora Wings shop on Etsy in May of 2013.  It has experienced a phenomenal growth, thanks to your  wonderful response to the unique style of art that ranges widely in terms of subject matter, style, and complexity from simple beginners' images to highly detailed, advanced colorists' images -- different from a lot of digital stamps that are available in the paper crafting industry.

Mitzi Sato-Wiuff

Mitzi (Her last name is pronounced sah-toe-view.  It's Japanese and Danish.) is a Colorado based artist, who is originally from Japan.  Her artwork shows a clear and distinct influence of vintage shojo manga (少女漫画), tattoo art, woodblock prints, and kimono textile art of her native country.  Mitzi has been drawing since early childhood, playing with crayons, watercolor, colored pencil, pastel, acrylics, and more recently, digital.

In 2010, she became a part of an artists collective, "Enchanted Visions Project", originally founded by famous fantasy artists Amy Brown and Jessica Galbreth.  EV provided a wonderful opportunity to produce artwork on a regular basis and helped her portfolio grow steadily.  Mitzi served for 2 years as an assistant administrator of the project, all the while staying an active contributing member.  In 2011, her long-time dream of publishing a coloring book became reality with the publication of "Gardens & Goddesses" from Ellen Million Graphics.

The Aurora Wings Etsy shop and the Challenge Blog are the newest art ventures as she continues to grow, experiment, learn, and play with an open mind and child-like curiosity.

So now to the good news...

The Design Team have been lucky enough to have 2 wonderful women joining our team.

Introducing.................

Leanne McDonald

Hi...I'm Leanne and I am extremely lucky to live in one of the most beautiful places in Australia. I am married with two teenage children and work in administration for a
vocational education and training provider.

I discovered scrapbooking in 2007 and quickly became addicted! I began card making soon after as a way to use some of the papers and embellishments that were filling up my creative space! I have served on design teams for my favourite online store ScrapBoutique, and Girls Only challenge site Scrap the Girls. I am so fortunate to have been published in Australian Scrapbooking Memories and Cardmaking, Stamping and Papercrafts magazines.

I am super excited to be joining the Feeling Sketchy team and look forward to sharing my designs with you!

My Photo

Hi my name is Mary. I have been married for 26 years, I have 2 beautiful
daughters 20 & 23, & live in the Midwest States in USA, Wisconsin.
My husband & I own a Motel & have done so for the last 20 years.
When I'm not busy with the motel  you can usually find me
in my scrap room.

I have been creating cards when my girls were little, it was our special hobby
we did together, as they got older they lost interest but I kept on making.
I started scrap booking in 2000. I wanted to keep those memories for my daughters
to pass on their families as get older.

I'm very excited to be part of the Feeling Sketchy team. Thank You Debi,
I'm so honored to you and your team.

Aren't we lucky to have 2 fabulous gals join our team!!

Cheers, Debi

Faux Letterpress Technique!!

Hey Everyone!! It's Elina here with an inspiration post for the Feeling Sketchy blog.
I have a Faux Letterpress project to share with you all.
Letterpress printing is a relief print technique using a printing press, ink and movable type.
It's used in a variety of applications, such as wood engravings and invitations.
I came across this faux technique on YouTube and thought it would be cool to try out and turn it into a card.

Here is a list of the supplies I used and a step by step photo representation of the process:
Supplies Used:
- Cuttlebug
- Stampin Up "Pink Passion" ink pad
- Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations Embossing Folder

First, open up the embossing folder and apply the ink, making sure to get good coverage.
The ink must be added to the front of the folder, as seen in the pic below.

Next, add your piece of cardstock on top of the ink and place your folder on the platform with the inked side down.
Then run it through your Cuttlebug.

Quick Note: I found that the Sizzix folders worked best for this technique.
I tried using my Cuttlebug folders at first, but could not get the crisp look I was going for.

Here is what my cardstock piece looked like, once I removed it from the folder.
I love how vibrant the pink looks against the white.
All that was left to do now was to add a card base, sentiment, and a few embellishments.

Here is the pic of my completed card.
I added black cardstock, lace, sequins, and a "Thinking of You" sentiment onto an A2 size white card base.

And voila!! card complete!!

I hope you enjoyed this project for today.
I hope I have inspired you to try this technique out for yourself.
Enjoy the rest of your day and Peace!! :)

Inspiration post by Margaret - What you can do if you don't have scrapbook paper to match your photos

It is my turn to do the inspiration post.  I have been trying to think what to do as others have been doing some great techniques but I don't know many.
I decided to share some scrapbook pages I made a while ago before I had my blog.  I think they were for scrapbook shop competitions.

If you don't have scrapbook paper to go with your photos there are lots of things you can do.  I am showing two.

1.  I scanned Sarah's dress and printed it onto card, added photos, stickers, staples, etc.

2.  For this one I stamped the page.

These are two simple layouts that anyone can do.

There are other things you can do, painting, masking, etc.     I will try to do a new page for the next inspiration post I have to do in August.

You have 6 more days to join in the card challenge No 91
and 21 more days to join in the scrapbook challenge No 92
Just link up your entry on the left hand side bare.   Here are the sketches as a reminder..

There will be a new card sketch on 15 June.
